You desire a creative way to access deeper insights about yourself and cultivate the potential for increasing your own personal power, as you define what that means for you at the beginning of our time together.
You want to enter into a creative space with like-minded persons of any age who respect and support each other by giving focused attention and positive feedback, with the shared intention of seeking to evolve on a personal level while allowing humor and playfulness along with anything serious that shows up so as to enjoy the creative process.
You desire to read and write poetry and are open to engaging in simple (and non-denominational) rituals of exploration, acceptance and celebration.
You want to deepen your writing or poetry writing practice and are open to sharing some (if not all) of your writing created during our time together with others in the group.
This is not a writing workshop in the traditional sense. You do not need to be a seasoned poet for this workshop.
However, you must have an appreciation for poetry: the desire to read poetry, and the willingness to write poetry, even if you think it is bad poetry, yes really. The inner critic is acknowledged, but not invited to stay for our sessions.
Through this process poetic writings emerge and take their own shape. Some poems will continue to be a work in progress, some considered compete the moment they hit the page, and some will be filed away with gratitude for whatever they reveled in that moment. All are intended to be clues in uncovering and honoring personal insights looking to be found during the process.
Participants will use their enjoyment of poetic language to explore, invite, and cultivate their strengths and authentic voice.
This 6-week process will be a poetic journey that requires a commitment to self as well as other group members. It requires a commitment to give and receive focused attention, and to engage in exploration with compassionate awareness of self and others. It means really listening for the meaning underneath the words.
Although absences are certainly permitted make up sessions will not be available outside of our group meetings, however participants will be encouraged to write on the topic explored that week in order to continue along side with the group during the scheduled or nonscheduled absences.
During the week all participants will be provided with elective writing prompts so that they can continue to gently uncover insights in the areas that were explored during the previous session.
The workshop will include a simple but intentional creative rituals using poetic elements to honor the growth that is unfolding as a result of our work together.
**The final class will include (an option) to film selected pieces in order for participants to have their very own edited pieces for use their personal social media platforms.**
